I get so mad when I read people's comments about Dog Fighting not being a big deal, as I am sure anyone reading this does also. Let's try to make sure people do not support them in any way. These are just a few on the list.
Terrel Owens (WR-Dallas Cowboys) is chiming in on the Mike Vick dog fighting controversy. And, like other idiots before him, Owens equates the "sport" to hunting.
Have a look and a listen.
We've said it before and we'll surely say it again. The difference is that dog fighting is illegal, and hunting is legal. If T.O. or Stephon Marbury or Whoopi Goldberg or anyone else doesn't like that, then they should partner with PETA to lobby legislators to ban hunting -- or they should make a push to have the laws against dog fighting changed.
Whoopi Goldberg - Host - The View (VIDEO)
Just 15 minutes into the show she brought up Vick's conviction on dogfighting charges.
"You know from his background this is not an unusual thing for where he comes from," said Goldberg.
"There are certain things that are indicative to certain parts of our country."
Co-host Joy Behar seemed shocked at Goldberg's statements.
"How about dog torture and dog murdering," Behar asked.
"Unfortunately it's part of the thing," Goldberg replied. "You're a dog lover. For a lot of people dogs are sport," she added.
Goldberg said it seemed to her that it took a while for Vick to realize that the charges against him were serious.
"It seemed like a light went off in his head when he realized that this was something the entire country really didn't appreciated, didn't like," Goldberg said, referring to Vick's guilty plea.
She said if the case had involved somebody from New York City her feelings would have been different. Goldberg pointed out that Vick was raised in the South.
"This is part of his cultural upbringing," said Goldberg.
But Goldberg continued to defend Vick saying "This is a kid who comes from a culture when this is not questioned."
Such an idiot: New York Knicks Guard - Stephon Marbury
Comments:"I think it's tough,'' Marbury said, according to Albany TV station Capital News 9. "I think, you know, we don't say anything about people who shoot deer or shoot other animals. You know, from what I hear, dogfighting is a sport. It's just behind closed doors.''
"I think it's tough that we build Michael Vick up and then we break him down,'' Marbury said. "I think he's one of the superb athletes, and he's a good human being. I just think that he fell into a bad situation.''
How about this idiot: Pittsburgh Post-Gazette reporter Paul Zeise
Comments: "It's really a sad day in this country when somehow ... Michael Vick would have been better off raping a woman if you look at the outcry of what happened," Zeise said. "Had he done that, he probably would have been suspended for four games and he'd be back on the field. But because this has become a political issue, all of a sudden the commissioner has lost his stomach for it."
John Mayer - Musician is an idiot. Here's the video:
If you want to tell him what a bastard loser he is for his video (or you just want to tell him his music sucks) you can send him a message on his myspace page: http://www.myspace.com/johnmayer. Or call his representation. He is represented by Headline Entertainment. Here is the number 888.552.6737.
NFL LIST:
Michael Vick (QB/ Atlanta Falcons) - enough said!
Clinton Portis (RB/ Washington Redskins) & Chris Samuels (T/ Washington Redskins) -
Washington Redskins players Clinton Portis and Chris Samuels defended Michael Vick by ridiculing the notion that dog fighting is considered a crime.
Portis said that if the Atlanta Falcons quarterback is charged and convicted of being involved in a dog fighting operation, then authorities would be "putting him behind bars for no reason."
"I don't know if he was fighting dogs or not," Portis said. "But it's his property; it's his dogs. If that's what he wants to do, do it."
Portis said dog fighting is a "prevalent" part of life.
Portis, a native of Laurel, Mississippi, added: "I know a lot of back roads that got a dog fight if you want to go see it. But they're not bothering those people because those people are not big names. I'm sure there's some police got some dogs that are fighting them, some judges got dogs and everything else."
"Politicians," added Samuels, who found it hard to keep from giggling while Portis was talking.
"Presidents," added Portis with a laugh.
Dog fighting is a felony in Virginia, but Portis said that if Vick is charged and convicted, "Then I think he got cheated. ... You're putting him behind bars for no reason -- over a dog fight."
"Haven't you seen Animal Planet?" Samuels added with a giggle.
Jonathan Vilma (LB/ New York Jets) - "Dogfighting is much more extreme, but you can equate it to horse racing. ... Everyone has heard about dogfighting. Whether you choose to participate or not, that's your decision. I'm not here to condone or accept it. It's been there for a while ... "
Donovan McNabb (QB/ Philadelphia Eagles) - "I'm a supporter of Vick," McNabb said Tuesday at Lehigh University. "That's because I'm a good friend of his and also we're guys that obviously compete to win the Super Bowl. We push each other. Now, I don't know exactly what happened in that situation, and I think for all of us that have read over the stuff that was over the Internet, the report, you look at it as kind of like, 'Wow, you've got your so-called friends and family members turning their back on you now to make their situation better.' They're throwing you under the bus so that they can clean their name. That's unfortunate. That goes to show, I always have a saying that I've always lived by: If you can't trust family, who can you trust? It's an unfortunate situation, and I just hope everything works out well for him where he can get back out on the field."
"As a football fraternity member, you just want those guys to have that opportunity to get back out there and maybe put that stuff behind them and change their life," McNabb said. "I think for some of the guys that have made the mistake and now that their season is taken away from them, the question goes out of what happens next. Because when some people get things like that taken away from them, they just continue to go down. You hope nothing but the best, that they've learned from their mistakes to move on where they can get back out on the field and play. Being suspended for a year? That's tough. That's tough. . . . You just want everything to kind of work out well for everybody, work out well for us as well as work out well for those guys."
What You Can Do:
Tell the NFL dog fighting is a cruel bloodsport that is illegal in all 50 states and a felony in most; it is not only terribly cruel for the dogs, it also creates a public safety issue - dogs are bred and trained for aggression and fighting and become dangerous. Let the NFL know dog fighting is also an activity characterized by violence, weapons, and illicit drugs and gambling. Ask the NFL to help crack down on this horrific activity.
