On May 19th 2008, 2 husky dogs were reportedly shot by a man named Christopher Comins in Orange County Florida. The 2 dogs, Raley and Hoochie, were shot multiple times in the neck, back, and eye, right in front of their owner and witnesses while the dogs' owner was retrieving them. Somehow, they managed to survive. Hoochie was even shot in the eye, and his eye was removed after being at the vet hospital for 1 month and having extensive leg surgery. A video recording by a witness shows the dogs being shot as one was trying to run away, and the other was just sitting there. The video showed the dogs did not pose any threat to the shooter or the cattle. No charges were filed against Comins, but the case has been re-opened, due mostly in part by the phone calls of concerned citizens to the Sheriff's Office. It was also found that Christopher Comins has a prior criminal record involving firearms.
Charges have still not yet been filed against the shooter!!! If you support the filing of felony animal cruelty charges, please write the 9th circuit State Attorney at:

Your letters are desperately needed. Please don't let this man get away with shooting these dogs. We must show the State Attorney that this is was an outright illegal shooting, and felony animal cruelty charges MUST be filed. Not only did Hoochie and Raley suffer unnecessarily and repeatedly, but it looks in the video as if the lives of Chris Butler (the owner of the dogs) and the people in the crowd, including children that were present, were in danger!!
