How did you find this site?: My Daughter, Jenny and my Grand-dog, Rambo invited me.

What Do You Think of BSL (Breed Specific Legislation): I think it should stand for "Bull S**t Law" instead.

Are You a BSL or Animal Rights Activist?: I have written many replies against BSL in forums and things but not a member of any specific group.

About Me:: I personally used to be one of the haters of "Pits". Not necessarily because I hated the animal but because I had heard all of the horror stories in the media and at that time, I was ignorant to the truth.

In 2003, my husband and I shared a house with my youngest daughter, Jenny and her husband, Chris. They got their first APBT named Mya and brought her home. Of course, she had a pen outside and even at that, I wouldn't go near the pen. I was that terrified of her.

A few months later, Chris had to have shoulder surgery, Jenny and my husband, Danny were both working and I was left to take care of Chris and, you guessed it...Mya!

The first time I stepped into her pen to feed her, I know she could sense the terror I felt. She sat on the opposite side of the cage, seemingly smiling, not threatening at all. I just told her that if she'd stay on that side, I'd stay on the other and we'd both be cool. I put her food in the bowl and emptied the water bowl to get fresh water. When I started to the gate, she got in front of me and I almost went into a panick attack! She put her ribcage against my legs and started to push me backwards away from the gate. The whole time she was looking at me as if to say, "It's ok. I promise I won't eat you". Since I had nowhere to go, I lightly touched the top of her head. She started to wag her tail and I could see how that excited her. I began to realize that she was not a monster and needed love as much as any other pet.

Not only did I eventually get over my fear of her but we created a bond that is unbreakable. I began to do more research and realized that the agression is not "in their blood" but in their teaching. Like a child, the learn what they are taught. If they are taught love, they will respond with love and loyalty.

Since then, Mya has had a son named Rambo ( we call him Bo), who is a big Grammy's boy. He is spoiled to the bone and we wouldn't have it any other way. Our only problem with Bo is that he doesn't understand the concept that Grammy's lap did NOT grow with him! I find myself trying to see around this huge white wall that wants to run circles in my lap as if he were still the size of your hand when he is almost as big as I am LOL. You gotta love it!

Pets you have:: We have a very spoiled Pug named Mr. Pugs (We call him Pug for short), a female cockatiel named Bevin and we just buried our "pick-a-wiennie", Pete, last summer who we had for 12 years. He died at 16 years old and is buried on my old home place, complete with a home made casket and eternal flame tomb stone. He is greatly missed and I would be lost without Pug in my life!

He really just does not seem to realize that he is much bigger. The look on his face when trying to get comfy in one of our laps is so funny. It's as though he's trying to figure out why he can not fit in our laps like out other 2 can. lol

Thank~You for the Kudo's. Yeah I thought about doing this for like a month and then one day someone on myspace a friend said their friend had no idea what BSL was. I had been asked before what BSL was on myspace and still get asked upon posting the bulletins on promoting this site. I know there are a ton of websites on BSL but if I can reach and aware that many more people and educate them just from myspace then it's all worth it.
